This is the website of Major David Craig, an experienced military tour guide catering for small or large groups of those who wish to understand and experience the battlefields our fathers and grandfathers fought over in two world wars. Bespoke small group/family tours a speciality.

David Craig left the British Army with the rank of Major after a world wide career spanning 40 years which took him to the Far East, Middle East, North Africa, and the Balkans, including culminating in seven years as a staff officer at HQ Land Command, the Field Army's senior HQ.  As well as being an experienced infantry soldier he has worked for the Foreign Office in the Balkans and for Granada TV's "World in Action" programme. Since 2005 he has worked with battlefield tour and small group travel specialists Back-Roads Touring of London and is also available to accompany groups of any size who wish to learn more about the battlefields of Europe.

While principally interested in WW1, WW2, and post WW2 conflicts, he also has an interest in the Napoleonic, Crimean and Peninsular wars.

Afterthought!  Why are you looking at a site which is primarily about WW1 & WW2 with a heading illustrated with a First Gulf War photo?

Well; That was my first real war. I took this photo just outside Kuwait City with a backgound of burning oil wells. The wrecked Iraqi self propelled 2S1 gun was supplied by Russia and destroyed by an American aircraft. The chain of history  which led  inexorably to that event in my war  began in Sarajevo on the 28th June 1914.
